The Montessori Approach to Independent Play

When a toddler enters a playroom packed with massive, overflowing toy boxes, the sheer volume of choices creates sensory fatigue. The Montessori method suggests a cleaner approach: swap deep storage bins for open, low-profile wooden shelves.

By displaying only six to eight high-quality activities at eye level, children can intentionally select, engage with, and return items independently, boosting spatial responsibility and focus early on.
